Obituary of George Bleuher
New Canaan, CT, April 2, 2016
George K. Bleuher, Jr., 93, a long-time resident of New Canaan died peacefully surrounded by his family.
George was born and raised in Winsted, Connecticut. Early in 1942, he and his brother, Ernie enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Both brothers served four year enlistments, Ernie in the South Pacific and George in the Mediterranean.
After his discharge, George enrolled at the University of Connecticut aided by the G.I. Bill and a football scholarship. George had a very successful football career at UCONN, and in his senior year he was chosen as a co-captain of the team. He was an avid football fan and a great supporter of UCONN athletics.
After a long career in sales, he and his wife, Marie retired to their home in New Canaan. Marie passed away in 2005.
George is survived by his daughter, Pat, sons, George, David, Chris and Brian as well as his grandchildren, Tricia, Chris, and Garth. He is also survived by his brother, Donald and sisters, Marie and Dorothy.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, April 30th at 12 noon at the new St. Joseph’s cemetery in Winsted.
