Obituary of Ann McDowell

Ann Jackson McDowell, age 73,a long time Wilton resident died Tuesday March 15, 2016 at her home with her loving and caring friends by her side. Born in Sioux Falls, SD, January 31, 1943. She was the daughter of Pierce H. and Alice Jackson McDowell. Ann lived a full, rich and independent life. She was a graduate of the University of South Dakota. Following graduation she moved to Washington, DC to work for South Dakota Senator Ben Rifle. Ann subsequently moved to New York City in the early '70's where she worked for renowned Architect Phillip Johnson. In 1971 she began her 25+ year career with National Football League Properties as Director of Licensing. In 1990 she was given the NFL Properties Hall of Fame Award, presented to her by Commissioner Pete Rozelle. In retirement, Ann devoted her time and energy to animal welfare through her volunteerism at Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue (ROAR). Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Ann was predeceased by her brother Pierce H. McDowell, Jr. and sister Elizabeth Hamilton. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 21, 2016 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Wilton, CT.
