Ian Prior, 59, of New Canaan CT passed away at his home on February 21st, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Ian was born on January 27th, 1957 in Ashton in Makerfield, England to the late Alan Prior and Mavis Alker. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Janet, and four daughters Madeleine, Alexandra, Harriet and Philippa, all of New Canaan. In addition, he is survived by his Mother, Mavis Alker, and her husband John, brother Andrew Prior, sisters Helen Smith and Sandra Johnstone, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ian started his 37 year career at Barclays Capital, where he held a variety of senior positions in the UK, Asia, and the U.S. that included Managing Director and Global Head of Capital Management and Planning, Chief Credit Officer for the Americas, and Chief Credit Officer for Asia Pacific. In 2013 he retired from Barclays and began working for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as VP and Head of Wholesale Credit. He loved traveling, specifically ski trips, music and spending time with his family. A funeral service to celebrate Ian’s life will be held at The United Methodist church of New Canaan, on Friday, February 26th at 10am. Interment will follow at Lakeview cemetery in New Canaan.
