Obituary of Josephine Hamm
Josephine (“Josie”) Ursulina Hamm, age 78, a longtime resident of Wilton, CT, passed on peacefully Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Autumn Lake of Norwalk. She was loved by her family in Switzerland and a big circle of friends from near and afar.
Born in Switzerland on April 11, 1937, Josie was the daughter of Emma and Benedikt Florin. She was an accomplished model who worked in Zurich, Milan, Paris and London. Her stunning features brought her to the front page of magazines like Elle and Annabelle. When she met the love of her life, Josie followed Richard Hamm, an airline pilot, to Connecticut, where she continued her career for top modeling agencies in New York City.
An avid bridge player, she enjoyed card games and made many friends on the tennis court. Taking her mom on numerous trips around the world was another highlight of her very fulfilled life. Josie was a humble and generous person with a great sense of humor who had a smile for everyone she encountered. She was a truly unique and remarkable woman.
Josie is survived by her mother Emma, who happens to be a centenarian, her siblings, Charlotte; Helene; Hugo; and Margarita-Gigi. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Richard, and her brother, Benedikt Jr.
