Obituary of Mary Ellen Mottley
Mary Ellen Mottley, a former resident of New Canaan, passed away on August 20, 2015 after a battle with cancer.
Mary Ellen was born on March 2, 1937 in South Orange, New Jersey. She was a 1958 graduate of Smith College.
She and her husband of 52 years, Lewis Mottley, and their children lived in New Canaan for 24 years. Mary Ellen was an active member of the New Canaan Sewing Group, a docent at the New Canaan Historical Society, a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, and an avid tennis player and gardener.
Mary Ellen is survived by her husband Lewis, daughter Katharine, daughter and son-in-law Sarah and Dean Harris, and grandchildren Ella and Thomas Harris. She was predeceased by her son Jonathan.
An interment ceremony will be held in the columbarium of St. Mark’s church, 111 Oenoke Ridge, New Canaan, CT 06840. at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 10th.
