Shirley G. Brault Shirley G. Brault, 87 of New Canaan, died peacefully July 11 at the Village at Waveny in New Canaan. Shirley is remembered by her children as the kindest, warmest mother possible, who also happened to be a lot of fun. She was a terrific cook and a pro with her sewing machine, whipping up clothes for herself and her daughter, Diane, and Halloween costumes for all five of her children. Shirley was born in Enosburg Falls VT on April 23, 1928 to the late Robert Y. Burleson and Irene Revoir. Shirley and her late husband, Dick raised their children while living in Palo Alto CA, Lima, Peru, and New Canaan, with love and a strong faith in God. Prior to her marriage Shirley was an RN at the Bishop DeGoesbriand Hospital in Burlington VT, today part of the University of Vermont Medical Center. She later went back to work as a nurse at Stamford Hospital working on the general surgery floors. Shirley is survived by her daughter Diane Beck of New Canaan, CT, son Barry Brault of Los Angeles, CA, son Jeff Brault of Martinez, GA, and son Martin Brault and his wife Dr. Lori Brault of Easton CT. Shirley is also survived by four grandchildren who brought her great joy, Christopher Beck, Timothy Beck, Joshua Brault, and Sophie Brault. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Richard E. Brault and her eldest son Richard E. Brault, Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Aloysius Church on Monday July 20 at 10:00am.
