Obituary of Ralph Knapp

Ralph W. Knapp, 82, of Norwalk, died January 17, 2010 at Wilton Meadows Nursing Home. Born April 3, 1927, in New Canaan, he was the son of the late George W. & Esther DeForest Knapp. He was predeceased by a brother George T. Knapp. He was the husband of the late Eleanore Miller Knapp who passed away in 2007. He was a veteran of the Navy in World War 2. He served on several ships in the Pacific culminating in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. He was a carpenter for many years and finished his career as an estate manager. He was an avid motorcyclist, hunter, and fisherman. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren. He is survived by his two daughters, Judith Mitchell of Virginia Beach, VA and Wendy A. Wood of Redding, his son, Kevin Knapp of Beaufort, NC, 5 grandchildren, Charlene Krieder , Bonnie Bianco, Chuck Brownell, Megan and Tyler Wood. 8 great grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. His sister, Jean Coviello, still resides in Norwalk A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan at 1:00 pm.
