Obituary of Lois Arthur

Lois Evelyn Arthur joined her soul mate of 61 years, Roger Lawrence Arthur, on 22 June 2015. Roger preceded Lois in eternal peace on 4 November 2006. Lois lives on in her children Larry Arthur and wife Kerry of Sandy Hook, CT Holly Arthur of Hyde Park, Mass , Betsy Wilson and her fiancé Dan of Groton, CT two grandsons Scott Arthur and his wife Danielle, Brian Arthur, granddaughters Dylan, Carly Kendall Carozza and her husband Mark, two great grandsons Connor and Luca Carozza, and cousin Betty McClary. Lois was born in Laconia, New Hampshire, 4 March 1921, to Lois and Clinton Brown. She graduated from Simmons College in 1943, the first student to be granted a leave of absence from her senior mid-terms to marry Roger after he graduated from Army Officer training school. She returned to finish her finals and joined her husband in Florida. She was honored to give birth to the first child born among her classmates, who at the time were all females at Simmons College. She was active in the New Canaan Congregational Church as a member of the Lend a Hand committee as well as teaching Sunday school. She retired from the Union Trust Bank in New Canaan. Lois was also honored by the American Red Cross for giving over 166 pints of Rh negative blood in over 30 years. A funeral Service will be held on Saturday , June 27, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan, CT Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 Am to time of Service.
