Margaret Bell Flattery of New Canaan, CT, formerly of Moriches, NY passed away on April 19,2015. She was born October 6, 1928 in Riverhead, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Flattery, DDS, and her parents, Ulick and Winifred Bell. Mrs. Flattery graduated from The College of Mount St Vincent in Riverdale NY in 1950 with a baccalaureate degree in nursing. She later received a Master of Science in Administration and Supervision from Long Island University. She worked as a nursing supervisor and instructor at Southampton Hospital in Southampton, NY until her marriage in 1955. She returned to nursing in 1968 as an instructor of licensed practical nurses, and later an administrator at the Harry B. Ward Technical and Academic Center, part of the Board of Cooperative Educational Services program in Riverhead. She retired from that position in 1993 and enjoyed many years of world travel, visiting by her estimate 86 countries. She is survived by her four children, Michael (Julie) of Redlands, CA, Maureen of Richmond, VA, Kathleen Abrams (Ronald) of Wilmington, NC and Meghan Allen (James) of New Canaan, CT as well as five grandchildren, Jessica (Darren), Maggie (Lukasz), Kyle (Laura), Ryan and Kelsey and two great-grandchildren (Audrey and Schuyler). The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Hoyt Funeral Home, New Canaan, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11am at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan.
