Obituary of Patricia Henriksson

Patricia J. Henriksson age 83, a New Canaan resident for almost 40 years died Sunday March 29, 2015 at her home with her loving family & devoted friend Marina by her side. Born in the Bronx, August 25, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Sarah Duffy & James Quinlivan. Pat was a longtime member of the New Canaan Women’s Club & St Aloysius Parish. She enjoyed water aerobics at the New Canaan YMCA for many years. Pat enjoyed traveling and had fond memories of time spent in South Africa & Botswana. Pat especially loved her summer vacation in Newport every July. Pat had the ability to make friends where ever she went with her outgoing personality & readiness to talk to everyone she’d meet. Nothing made her happier than the smiles of her grand & great grandchildren. Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Lennart Henriksson, two daughters Barbara Vala and her husband Dennis of Norwalk, CT and Beth Linell her husband Tom of Weston, CT and one son James L. Whelan and his wife Amanda of The Woodlands, Texas, nine grandchildren . (Tricia Charise Corbett, Justin Charise, Chris Charise , Patrick Whelan, Jack Whelan, Ford Linell, Molly Linell, Kate Linell & Nicole Linell.) Three great-grandchildren, Austin Charise, Griffin Corbett, and Ashley Charise also survive. Pat was predeceased by her first husband, Louis Whelan , and is survived by his twin sister and her dear sister in law, Muriel Whelan. Pat is also survived by many nieces & nephews . A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday April1, 2015 at 10 AM at St Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan, CT Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan, CT. The family will receive friends at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan Tuesday evening from 4 to 8 PM. Many thanks for the compassionate care received from staff at DaVita and Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County who managed to create happy memories despite a very difficult situation.
