Obituary of Margaret Philipcik

Margaret C. Philipcik, 87, of New Canaan, CT passed away on March 11, 2015 at home with her loving family by her side. Margaret was born on June 3, 1927 in Danbury, CT to the late William and Annie Creagh and was the wife of the late William J. Philipcik. Peggy was a long time New Canaan resident. She graduated from NCHS and worked as a secretary for Pitney Bowes. She married “Push” in 1952 and raised their seven children. She was a lifetime member of St. Aloysius Church and a devoted parishioner who loved the Lord. Margaret is survived by her seven children, Linda Philipcik, William Philipcik, Laura Wade(Bernard), Diane Gazzini, Amy Reilly(David), John Philipcik, Wendy Smalick, and eight grandchildren, Christopher, Jeffrey, and Chelsea Wade, Benjamin Gazzini, Kevin and Sean Reilly, and Margaret and Samantha Smalick. She is also survived by her two sisters Frances Gesualdi and Patricia Creagh. Margaret is predeceased by her two sisters Katherine A. Creagh and Theresa C. Vitti. Peggy enjoyed cooking, gardening and canasta games. She was a kind and caring person who always put everyone else above herself. She was the heart of the family, hosting many family gatherings and was always involved in their lives. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 2PM- 5PM at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St. New Canaan, CT 06840. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held on Monday, March 16, 11:00AM at St. Aloysius Church New Canaan, CT. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to New Canaan Ambulance Corps, Waveny Home Care or a charity of your choice.
