Obituary of Marian Giraldi
Marian Arlene Giraldi passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015. Marian was born on November 1, 1938 in Boonton, New Jersey to her parents Halsey and Hazel McCarthy. Her children Theresa, Bobby and Maria as well as her cherished seven grandchildren, Alanna, Grant, Alex, Jack, Tyler, Christian and Braden, survive Marian.
Marian raised her children in Chappaqua, New York where she owned and operated Penny Auntie 5&10, a beloved candy store where friends congregated to share in Marian’s warmth and hospitality. Marian was most fulfilled when she entertained, hosting wonderful family gatherings during cherished holidays. She spent many winters in Highland Beach, Florida. Most recently Marian lived in New Canaan, Connecticut where she spent her days loving and being actively involved with her children and grandchildren.
Those who knew Marian know that she gave selflessly of herself. She was loyal, nonjudgmental, and compassionate, dedicated to her family her whole life. Her spirit and warmth were infectious. Marian will be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her during her 76 years.
Her life will be celebrated with a Mass on Saturday, March 14th, 2015 at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan, Connecticut at 11:30am followed by a reception at the Roger Sherman Inn, New Canaan. All are welcome to attend.
During her last few days it was Marian’s vision to see all of her loved ones gather to celebrate her life wearing light colors. Although she loved black, she did not feel this would be a day to do so as it represented sadness. Very much like her personality she always enjoyed seeing people happy.
