Obituary of Joan Draudt
Joan A. Draudt, age 83, formerly of North Stamford and Westchester County, died Monday March 9, 2015 in Saddle River, NJ with her loving family by her side. Born in Leominster, MA Aug. 6, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Audrey Mazzaferro. Joan was the wife of the late Stuart Draudt who died in 2013.
Joan attended Leominster High School and earned a B.A. degree from Fitchburg State University and an M.A. in Education from Hunter College in New York. Joan then began a career as an elementary school teacher in New York and later became a reading specialist. Joan was an avid reader and loved to play tennis at Wykagyl Country Club where she and her husband, Stuart, were long-time members. A loving wife and mother, Joan later retired to NJ to be closer to her beloved daughters and their growing families.
Joan is survived her two daughters, Laura Giaccio and her husband Anthony of Ramsey, NJ, and Debra Draudt-Spiwak and her husband Alfred of Colts Neck, NJ, one sister, Constance Stelluto, and three brothers, Richard Mazzaferro, Robert Mazzaferro and Ronald Mazzaferro all of Leominster, MA. Her three grandchildren, Ava Giaccio, Devon and Ben Spiwak, also survive. She was predeceased by her brother Bobby Mazzaferro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Church of the Holy Spirit, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford, CT 06903. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan, CT. Friends may gather prior to Mass at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan, CT on Friday morning from 9 to 10:30 AM.
