Obituary of Marie Fulton

Marie Phillips Fulton, age 98, passed away peacefully on February 23 at the New Canaan Inn where she had lived for 13 years. The cause was pneumonia. She was born in Perryville, Missouri, on October 12, 1916. She graduated from Perry County High School and received a degree from Font Bonne College in St Louis, Missouri. She was married to Tony Fulton, an executive vice-president for Standard Brands which later became Kraft Foods. They moved from St. Louis to Kansas City, then to Atlanta, New York, and finally to New Canaan where they settled in 1959. Both Marie and Tony were active in New Canaan, serving on the board of the Silvermine Guild as well as other civic organizations. A gifted seamstress and knitter, Marie was a member of the New Canaan sewing group. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Marie and Tony’s son, Gerald, who lived in Aspen, Colorado, died in 1985. Marie's husband Tony passed away in 1989. Marie is survived by her daughter Antonia Walker of Waterford, Virginia, granddaughters Alexandra Walker of Washington DC, and Aubrey Walker of Richmond, Virginia, grandson Brian Fulton of Redding, Connecticut, and five great grandchildren: Abigail, Logan and Mark Fulton, and Soren and Finn Matson. The family would like to thank the staff of the New Canaan Inn for their hospitality and good will. They are especially grateful to her expert and compassionate caregivers, Gloria Flook and Patience Amevor. A service will be held at a later date in New Canaan and again in Perryville, Missouri. Funeral services have been entrusted to Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan, Connecticut.
