Obituary of Alton LeBlanc

Alton L. LeBlanc, 63, a lifelong resident of New Canaan, CT died Friday, February 20, 2015 at Stamford Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Al was born on May 1, 1951 in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada to Janet Sirois LeBlanc and the late Alton L. LeBlanc. He graduated from New Canaan High School in 1970, where he was an All Sport Varsity Athlete, after which he became a Construction and Painting Contractor in addition to operating a local property management company. He was adventurous and loved to travel, cook, and dabbled in sky diving. He was a “jack of all trades” including: golf, horseshoes, boating, darts, men’s softball and bowling. He was a lover of all sports and an avid fan of The Women’s UConn Huskies Basketball, N.C. High School Rams Football, New York Yankees, and The New York Jets. Al held membership with the Bowling League, the Eagles Club, as a captain at the South Norwalk Boat Club and The English Dart League - of which he was an All Star Champion. He participated in numerous fundraisers for the Norwalk Emergency Shelter, organized the original Chicken Street team and was a coach for the NCBT Girls Softball League as well as the Dakotas Little League Boys Baseball. Al was best known for his humor, his infectious laugh, his altruistic heart, and his big smile. Above all else he valued his family . He was a coach, a mentor, a brother, an uncle, and a friend to all. In addition to his mother, Al is survived by his siblings, Charlotte (LeBlanc) Merritt of Norwalk, Brian LeBlanc(Gretchen) of Norwalk, Ruth (LeBlanc) Jones (Burton) of New Canaan; ten nieces and nephews; Jennifer LeBlanc, Patrick (Kim) LeBlanc, BJ Jones, Adam Jones, Stephanie Jones, James Merritt, Kimberly Merritt, RJ Beladino, Brian LeBlanc , and Jack LeBlanc; and many, many friends. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his nephew Chipper LeBlanc, and his brother in-law James Merritt. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 28, 2015 at 3:30PM in the Congregational Church of New Canaan, 1 Park St., New Canaan followed by a reception and life celebration at the South Norwalk Boat Club, 17 Mack St. Norwalk.
