Obituary of John Travis

BRADENTON, FLORIDA JOHN LOUIS TRAVIS, JR. Mr. John Louis Travis, Jr., 63, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton. He was the loving husband of Barbara (Walter) Travis. Born on September 6, 1951 in Sussex, New Jersey to the late John Louis, Sr. and June (Kithcart) Travis, he proudly served his nation in the United States Army. Most recently he was employed by McKesson in Norwalk, Connecticut and by First County Bank in Stamford, Connecticut where he made a great many of his closest friends. John was a loving family man and spent all of his spare time with his family, whether they were in Florida, New York, California, New Jersey or Connecticut. John took great pride in his family and friends. Despite setbacks, John took on his illness with tremendous courage and strength. John is survived by his wife Barbara of Bradenton, Florida, two Sons, John Travis Smith (Lyn), Michael Brandt, (Jillian), his step-son Justin Fallon (Liza), four Sisters Kathi Cafiero (Kenneth), Lisa Singer(Robert), Melissa Osborne (Lewis), and Michelle Travis (Cheryll) and ten grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Diana Fallon Travis. Viewing hours will be held on Saturday, January 31st, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Talmadge Hill Community Church, Talmadge Hill Road, New Canaan, CT, followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Darien.
