I was extremely sad to learn a few days ago that Ellie passed away last January. Ellie and I were roommates for our final two years of high school (Dana Hall in Wellesley, Mass.) and my memories of her kind and enthusiastic spirit, her generous laugh, her outstanding athletic abilities, and the value to me of her friendship are still as vivibd as if we’d graduated just yesterday. As so often happens, we’d lost touch over the years; but I’m grateful to have had a wonderful, hour-long phone conversation with her five years ago, when I called on behalf of our Class to encourage her to attend our 50th Reunion. She was greatly missed at that event, and I know that the many friends she had at Dana will be very saddened by the news of her death.
Sincerely,
Phyllis Jansen

It is some time since I last saw Ellie, but what wonderful memories of a kind, caring lady. She sold us our first home in New Canaan 25 years ago and kept in touch with us through that time. She will be missed but her bright spirit is what I will remember.
My condolences,
Avril Sweeny.

I want Ellie's family to know of her many Hollins friends (Class of '65) who are so very saddened by the news of her sudden death. Ellie's energy, laughter and spirit will be greatly missed at our 50th reunion in May.
With sympathy to Ellie's family, Kate, Emily and George and her beloved grandchildren.
Love, Priscilla

Ellie was my friend and the best neighbor that anyone can ask for. I live across the street from Ellie, and see her house every day. I am blessed knowing her and I cherish time spent together. Ellie was smart, kind, and caring person. She had a strong façade, but inside she was sensitive and vulnerable. I will miss the spoils of Ellie’s vegetable garden: fresh salad, tomatoes, garlic in the fall, and so much more.
I will miss Ellie very much but only in flesh, because I will carry the memory of her as long as I live.
My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Ellie and I became friends in grade 5/6, meeting at Royal School. Time spent at the Keewaydin Farm, at the home her parents built and visiting with my family in Harrisville, New Hampshire are memories I cherish. We lost touch after college, but I remember her fondly. I am sure she will be missed.

I grew up with Ellie in Darien. I have very fond memories of playing together on her families farm and at school. I am truly sorry to hear that she has gone to her "garden in the beyond." I know she will be deeply missed.
