Obituary of Rosemary Spero
Rosemary Spero, Mother of Resident
Rosemary Spero, 78, died peacefully at Edge Hill in Stamford, CT on Wednesday, November 26. She lived at Middlesex Commons in Darien.
Rosemary was born in New York City on December 19, 1935; the daughter of Mary and Anthony Casella. While growing up in The Bronx, she met John Spero, who was the love of her life. They married in 1955 and raised their two daughters in The Bronx, with an abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews nearby. They were happily married for 39 years before John’s passing in 1994.
In 1997, Rose moved with her daughter Ann Marie to Darien. She befriended all who had the pleasure of meeting her. She was a bundle of energy, and quick with a smile – even after she sustained a very difficult stroke in 2005. Rose was a well-known friend of the Darien merchants she and Ann Marie would visit on their almost daily walks up the Post Road.
Rosemary loved to cook and bake for her family. In fact, she loved nothing more than trying a new recipe most nights for dinner! She also had a passion for knitting, counted cross-stitch and, of course, The New York Yankees.
Rosemary is survived by two daughters, Debbie Woodard (Tom) of New Canaan, and Ann Marie Spero of Darien; and two grandsons, Michael Reeber (Brianne) of Stamford, and Nicholas Woodard of New Canaan. She is also survived by her brother Anthony (Edwina) of Hopewell Junction. Her brother John predeceased Rosemary.
There will be no calling hours, and interment will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
