Obituary of K. Louise Carlson
K. Louise Carlson, age 92, a resident of Stamford for over 50 years, died Tuesday November 25, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Bedford, MA, September 16, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Lena Bangsgaard Johnson. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Carl, in 2000.
Louise graduated from the University of New Hampshire and Kathryn Gibbs. She first worked as an executive secretary for the chief of psychiatry at Mass General Hospital in Boston and later for Hathaway Corporation in New Bedford. Louise and Carl began their married life in1952 in Nashua, New Hampshire. Louise was a dedicated homemaker and devoted member of her church. Throughout her life, she was active in garden clubs, bridge, golf, tennis and her passionate avocation, reading. She played first violin in the Nashua Symphony and later in the Stamford Symphony Orchestra. In her later years, Louise continued tending her gardens, reading, playing bridge and enjoying her grandchildren. Louise always cherished her friends and family.
Louise is survived by her son Christopher Carlson of Stamford and Los Angeles, her daughter Nicoline Carlson Sawabini of New Canaan, her husband Stuart and their daughters, Kathryn Abbe and Abigail Carlson. Also surviving are her niece and nephew, Kathy Frazier and Bill Carpenter. She was predeceased by her sister Dorathea Carpenter.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday November 29, 2014 at 3:00pm at the First Congregational Church, 1 Walton Place, Stamford, CT 06901.
