Marlene Calitri Saviano age 65, a longtime resident of Norwalk died peacefully Monday, November 3, 2014 at Norwalk Hospital with her loving family by her side after a long and courageous battle with cystic fibrosis. She was born on August 17, 1949 in Norwalk, Ct. to the late John J. and Jean Zoppi Calitri. She was the wife of John J. Saviano. Marlene graduated from UCONN and received her Masters Degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Marlene was a devoted special education teacher in the Ridgefield school system for many years, teaching at both the middle and high school level. Marlene had also been a head teacher with the autistic program at the former Noroton Heights Middle School. . In addition to her husband, survivors include her two sisters Sandra Calitri Schutte of Ada, Michigan and Debra Manuel of Shelton, CT., her four brothers John Calitri of New Canaan, Tim Calitri, Roy Calitri and David Calitri all of Norwalk and her godson William Schutte. She was predeceased by her nephew Troy Schutte, and her loving and faithful dog Tasha. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, November 7 at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday evening at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan from 4:00PM to 8:00PM.
