Sig was the rare man who applied intellectual brilliance, training and keen insight to the care of his patients. He had deep empathy, exuded warmth, elicited immediate trust, and cared for so many truly ill patients over his many years of service. We definitely can say he left the world a better place.
I worked with Sig for many years at Silver Hill. At the same time he cared for my family's medical needs from time to time. I even occasionally socialized with him.
Through the many years and many experinces I grew to love and respect him.
I will miss him greatly. I loved this great man. The world needs more Sigs.

Sig used his great talents and training to help countless patients with skill, wisdom, compassion and hope. A wonderful friend he loved his family and his community. He provided strong leadership to Silver Hill Hospital at a critical time and developed fine programs, recruited talented doctors and mental health professionals , and excellent mentoring to all of us. He will be missed.

I have only the warmest memories of Dr. Ackerman. I was 16 years old when I met him, and in my very worst state he told me he saw great things in me. He not only treated me, but advocated for me to get the best care & treatment possible. On my worst days he told me he was not going to give up, and on my best days he told me the progress was all because of me. But it was him too. I have never met someone so genuinely compassionate & thoughtful. Frankly I wish the world had more Dr. Ackermans. One person really can change the world. One person to never give up on you, to always believe in you & to always have your best interest at heart. He was that one person for me; I will be that one person for someone else.

Have such wonderful memories of Sig and Cece. Paul and I sailed with Sig down on the CT shore before he sold his beloved boat and it was a grand time. We also met him and Cece in Newport and had a lovely dinner with them and was always a pleasure attending the NYC galas at Cipriani’s. A wonderful, humble, caribg and generous man. And the most beautiful blue eyes. Thanks for sharing a bit if yourself with us Sig! Love to you and your Cece. Until we meet again…with love, Jan Prenoveau, PAC Group LLC
