Obituary of Rose Noon
Rose Theresa Noon, age 88, of New Canaan, CT, formerly a long-time resident of Red Bank, NJ, died Tuesday October 13, 2009, at Norwalk Hospital. Born May 16, 1921 in Scranton, PA, to the late Patrick and Mary Dean Norton, she married William P. Noon in 1946. They were married for 32 years until William’s death in 1978. Rose raised four daughters, Rosemary, Ann, Peggy, and Eileen and remained very close to her family in Scranton, PA, throughout numerous relocations over the years related to William’s position at Western Electric. In addition, Rose began her own career in 1968 with Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck, NJ where she remained until her retirement just shy of her 82nd birthday. She joined St. James Catholic Church, Red Bank, in 1961 and remained a member until 2003 upon her move to New Canaan after which she was a member of St. Aloysius Church. She resided at the New Canaan Inn and loved spending time with the many wonderful people that touched her life at the Inn.
She is survived by her four daughters, Rosemary and Kenneth Dickinson of Edgewater, FL; Ann and Ed Bryant of Charlotte, NC; Margaret and Joseph Toce of New Canaan, CT; and Eileen and William Butler of Edgewater, FL; One sister Margaret Lewis of Scranton, PA; her nine grandchildren: Heather Loeper and Daniel Dickinson; Elizabeth and Margaret Bryant; Joseph, William, and Caroline Toce; Brigid and Ian Butler; and her two great grand-children Andrew and Ethan.
She was pre-deceased by six brothers and two sisters.
Her family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday October 15, 2009 at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Church, 94 Broad Street, Red Bank, NJ on Friday October 16, 2009 at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, NJ. Friends may call Friday morning at the John Day Funeral Home, Red Bank , NJ between 10-11:30 am.
