Obituary of Linda Finelli
Linda Finelli, nee’ Ambrosiano, peacefully passed away on August 2, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving, devoted husband and daughters.
Linda was born to the late Amalia and Theodore Ambrosiano on January 18, 1929 in the Bronx, NY and grew up in Bronxville. She graduated with honors from The College of New Rochelle. She married her childhood sweetheart, Sal, in 1951 in Bronxville and they raised their family in Pound Ridge, NY, where they happily remained for many years.
When her daughters were in high school, she joined her husband’s printing company, Academy Reproduction in White Plains, serving as Vice President.
Linda was a devoted wife and a most loving mother, the glue of her family. She was a phenomenal Italian cook and tirelessly had a three course meal on the dinner table every night without fail. She was an accomplished horticulturist, and enjoyed spending her leisure time with her husband nurturing the gardens on their beautiful property.
Her other passions were entertaining and hosting fabulous dinner parties for extended family and friends, International travel, especially Italy and the Caribbean, music, fine dining in NYC and designing and decorating her family home through multiple extensions and renovations over the years.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 72 years, Sal (Salvator), her loving daughters, Laurinda Finelli of Old Greenwich, CT and Kathryn Finelli of Pound Ridge, NY, her sister Maria Petretti of Wyckoff, NJ, many nieces and nephews, and her new kitten “Bella”.
The youngest of ten children, Linda was pre-deceased by her sisters Elsie DePhillipis, Ida Capozzi, Antoinette Vicoli, Clementine Vinciquerra, Candita D’Angelo, Alma Porzio and her brothers Donato Ambrosiano and Nicholas Ambrosiano.
Linda left this life as she lived it….with pride, dignity, class, grace and most of all, LOVE.
