My memories of John Banigan are many. Gretchen and I overlapped with John and Gail in Mexico City, where he and I worked in Chemical Bank's representative office 1978-1980. Many youthful good times and memories. After that we had only sporadic contact for several years, although much more so recently. John was very smart, energetic, and capable, and had a successful career with Chemical and beyond. He closely followed and was knowledgeable about global events, having had extensive direct experience abroad which included important assignments in Latin America and Asia. At the same time, he was very much an "American", with values nurtured while growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania. The big red headed guy of Irish descent had a big personality and presence which could fill up a room. Together John and Gail raised a loving family. Together they dealt courageously and resolutely with the cancer to which he ultimately succumbed, remaining incredibly positive and enjoying life notwithstanding difficult circumstances. Gretchen and I send our condolences to Gail and the family. We will truly miss John.
