Charles Anthony Gallo, Sr., 86, formerly of New Canaan, CT for many years, passed away Sunday, September 7 in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Charlie was born on June 13, 1928 in Norwalk, CT to the late Giusseppe and Rosaria Gallo. Charlie was Superintendent of the Highway Department for the town of New Canaan, as he was employed by the Town for 51 years. Many will remember Charlie cruising around the roads of New Canaan in his town car with his license plate “NC32”. Charlie knew every mile of every road in New Canaan. His work ethic was impeccable, he was always willing to lend a helping hand, was a true friend to many, and his generosity will not be forgotten. In addition to his wife, Angela Gallo, Charlie was pre-deceased in life by his brother Frank Gallo. Charlie is survived by a son, Charles Gallo, Jr., and his wife Laura, of Salem, N.H.; a daughter Lisa McLeod and her husband Gavin, of Charleston, SC; and a sister Josephine Correnty and her husband Joe, of Laguna Woods, CA. Also surviving Charlie are 4 grandchildren, Michael Gallo of Mahomet, IL, Kerri Ann Gallo of Denver, CO, Jessica and Morgan Dickey of Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St, New Canaan, CT on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 4 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 10am at St. Aloysius Church, New Canaan, CT. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan.
