Joseph John Pagliaro Jr. (Joe), age 81 of Shallotte, NC formerly from Norwalk, CT went on his journey to Heaven, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 26, 2024

Joe was an avid golfer most of his life and enjoyed his Tuesday Foursome. He loved gardening and was particularly proud of his amazing hot peppers, which he never ate. He was a great storyteller and was happy to tell a tale to anyone who would sit and listen for a bit, or maybe longer if given the chance. His infectious smile and robust laugh were enjoyed by all who knew him and his birthday parties were always an epic affair with everyone invited. In his younger years he was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Joe was born in Newport News, VA and attended Notre Dame HS in West Haven, CT and Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA . He graduated from McAllister School of Embalming & Funeral Services, NY, NY and began his career with his father-in-law at Shay-Pagliaro Funeral Home in Ansonia, CT. Later, he partnered with Thomas A. Cicalese as owners of Franklin Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan, CT; and Raymond Funeral Home in Norwalk, CT, he retired in 2004. He was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.

Joseph is predeceased by his parents Dr. Joseph J. Pagliaro and Anna O'Brien Pagliaro. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Ellen Shay Pagliaro, his children James J. Pagliaro (Jennifer Delaney Pagliaro), Helene A. Pagliaro, and Petrea L. Pagliaro-Randazzo (Gerald E. Dennison), his beloved grandchildren Daniel J. Pagliaro (Chelsea Guerra Pagliaro), Julia L. Randazzo, Michael P. Pagliaro, Kristen A. Pagliaro, and Caroline N. Pagliaro. He is also survived by his sister Joanna Pagliaro Peters (Frederick Peters) and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as two of his many close friends who are family Mary L. Torres, "Number Two Wife" and Joseph D'Amicol.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and announced by the family.
