It's been more than 40 years since I laid my eyes on him as a young elementary school student at West School. I was so sad to near about his life-ending illness...far too young to die. As I read his obituary, I was reminded of many happy times at school with Jed and his family. I want the family to know that my wife and I will keep his memory in mind when we say our daily Rosary for family and friends. I'm sure he will be remembered for all the good he accomplished in his short life. May God bless the whole Mellick family and provide strength and faith during this most difficult time. My heart is broken for the Mellick family and for his beloved friends and family. Our daughter was at FPNS with Jed at 3 years old and our families spent all those school years watching them grow into wonderful humans. Jed was so kind, very handsome, creative, funny and smart. The New Canaan high school class of 1998 has lost yet another of its gems. Jed’s great smile, sunny personality, a creative and clever mind and sense of fun will be missed by me and all his classmates. As an advisor to the class, we send our deepest sympathy to Jed’s wonderful family. I wish I could be at the celebration of Jed’s life, but I’ll be out of the country.
