Obituary of Catherine Tangorro

Catherine Jane Tangorro, 86, of New Canaan, CT, formerly of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2024. She was born on June 17, 1938, in Stamford to the late Augustine and Angelina DeCamillo Costanzo. Cathy graduated from Stamford High School in 1957, where she was a star baton twirler. She went on to work for a prominent New Canaan dentist, was a homemaker, and, for many years, a full-time caregiver to her mother-in-law.

A caring and generous person, Cathy supported and donated to many charities, including military organizations, children's hospitals, animal shelters, and various cancer and health charitable institutions. She loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed a number of hobbies and activities, including card games on Friday nights. Most importantly, she cherished her family, especially her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved like her own children.

Cathy was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas Tangorro, her brother, Anthony James Costanzo, and her nieces Wendy Costanzo and Cindy Cipolla. She is survived by her sister, Connie Carman of TX, her brother Augustine Costanzo and his wife Barbara of TX, and her sister-in-law Nancy Rich Costanzo of Wilton, CT. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews, including Lisa, Dawn and her husband Joe, Anthony, Wayne and his wife Bonnie, Stephen and his wife Maria, Linda and her husband Gregg, Tina and her husband Chris, Tiffany and her husband Warren, Augustine and his wife Amanda, and Lori, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 11 AM at Saint Aloysius Parish, 21 Cherry Street, New Canaan, CT.
