Obituary of Elsie Enquist Cyr
Elsie Enquist Cyr passed away peacefully on May 10th at Broad River Homes in Norwalk.
She was born on June 27,1922 in New Canaan where she lived and attended schools graduating as salutatorian in NCHS Class of 1940.
During WWII, Elsie worked at Boots Aircraft located in New Canaan. She met her husband on a blind date when he was on leave from the US Army. Elsie married Ist Lieutenant Euclid Cyr in May 1945 and they began their family, raising five children.
Elsie had various office jobs at Albany Products in Norwalk and ZLoda in New Canaan and Stamford. She also was part-time bookkeeper for a family business. Besides being a devoted mother, Elsie had many hobbies. She enjoyed bowling on several league teams during her work years. Gardening was a favorite activity which she pursued until age 98. She also was an avid fan of UConn Women Basketball and followed the team for many years.
Elsie was pre-deceased by her husband as well as parents and siblings. She is survived by her five children: Judith Cody of New Canaan, Kenneth Cyr (Mary)of Ridgefield, CT; Marilee Cyr(Larry Colby)of Gilsum, NH; Gary Cyr(Susan)of Chandler,AZ;and DebraCyr(Greg Rogowski)of Livermore, CA. Also grandchildren Alex Cyr (Kelly), Max Cyr (Cait), Eric Cyr (Allie) plus great-grandchildren Catherine,Ronan,and Maggie Cyr.
Services are being handled by Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan. Calling hours are scheduled on Friday,May 17 from 10am -Noon followed by interment at Lakeview Cemetery.
