I am greatly saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and schoolmate, Albert Miller. He and his family moved to Lionville, Pennsylvania, when in the early grades of school. We both went to the Lionville Elementary School—a one-room schoolhouse taught by Edit P. Moore. Albert and I were friendly rivals, being the captains of baseball teams from the early postwar year through sixth grade. Along with our third friend, Steven Albert Pope, we developed a complex war game that would take an entire weekend to play. After his family and mine moved to West Chester our paths gradually separated as he became a popular leader and later valedictorian of his class.
I find myself now to be the last man standing of what we had considered a proud triumvirate in Boy Scouts and grade school, Steve, Albert and I. My sympathies reach out to his wife and children...
