Carol and Family,
I go back to a little boy in Perry Township, Ohio, where Jerry was Perry High School’s first varsity football coach and became friends with the fledgling Perry Adult Booster Clubs charter members, My parents Reese and Ina Edwards being one of these. Back in those very early days things weren’t easy for the young Panthers, but Jerry, his staff and players turned the Panthers into winners before Jerry’s 5 years there ended. I organized a night to honor Jerry back in 1991 when the Panthers ironically played his Alma Mater New Philadelphia. I know Jerry and Carol did their best to keep in touch with those members of the Perry family he came to know threw his years at Notre Dame and in the NFL.
My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Carol, family and his friends. God Bless all of you.

Hi Jody- your dad’s obituary was just lovely. He was one kick-ass man! I can still see him laughing hilariously. Such a fun sense of humor.
When the following happened, I called your mom to share with her -
About 14-15 years ago I was at the Maxwell Club award ceremony (football stuff - long story!) in Atlantic City. Dick Vermeil was involved. I introduced myself and said we shared a dear friend. When I explained, and mentioned your dad, he took off about how wonderful Jerry is, that he ‘wrote the book on offensive line coaching’ that was still followed. He was a huge admirer!!
I have happy memories of our parents together. They were good times, weren’t they? I hope you and your families are muddling through this crappy time. And your Mom - she must be lost. So many years together- this will be a sad adjustment for her. Please give her my love.
And big hugs to you, Jody. ♥️♥️

I remember when we were at his home in North Carolina and he took us out on the lake. Tried to teach me to water ski, when I jumped into the lake and came up he said my eyes were as big as 50 cent .we laughed about it, never go it up but we had a fun day on the lake..

Jerry's hearty laugh; his love of family; his fun at family reunions; his love of flowers which he and my daughter shared --- all great memories. However, what stands out most in my mind is he always remembered his roots, his hometown, and remained loyal and supportive.
Thanksgiving 1989 we were invited to the Lions / Browns game and to Jerry and Carol's home for Thanksgiving. Wonderful, wonderful memory of the fellowship, time with his family, AND, the way Jerry immediately gave my son the 'old one - two' since the Lions won. Ironically, as we went to the game, my son had asked what he should say to Jerry when the Browns won. Of course, when Jerry greeted my son with a delightful victory face, we burst out laughing and told Jerry about the conversation.
Dad was not a football fan, BUT, he would watch "Jerry's games" to get a glimpse of him and would be so excited which meant I'd get a call asking if I saw Jerry!!!
So thankful he and I had a nice, long chat in August.
May warm memories of a life well lived bring comfort to all of you. It's a difficult road, this "Road of Grief". You have been and will continue to be in my prayers. Hugs and Love, from Cookie
