In Loving Memory of Polly Ruyl Luster
Polly was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 10, 1925, the daughter of the late Dr. James Peter Ruyl and Dorothy Freeman Ruyl.
She spent her early years in Pelham Manor, New York where she made friends who were lifelong. She graduated from Emma Willard School in 1943, where she also made lifelong friends. She attended Pine Manor Junior College and after graduation she worked in advertising in New York City.
Polly married Carl John Luster in 1950 at Christ Church, Pelham Manor, NY. They first lived in New York City and then moved to New Canaan, CT in 1954. As a resident of New Canaan for almost 70 years, Polly was involved in many organizations. She was an active member of St. Mark's Church and a longtime volunteer at Waveny Care Center. For many years she served as Treasurer of Worldtiles, Inc..She was devoted to her family and many friends.
She is survived by her daughter Gay, her son David and his wife Alexandra, her son Carl, five grandchildren: Alex and his wife Demetra, James and his wife Gaurie, Polly, Charlotte and Heather and three great grandchildren: Connor, Zoe and Eliza. She was predeceased by her husband Carl and her son Peter. Polly died in Norwalk, CT on December 12, 2023.
