Obituary of Anne Krajsa Snyder
Anne Susan Krajsa Snyder, 81, of New Canaan, CT died on November 22, 2023 at Norwalk Hospital, surrounded by her family, after her brave battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Christopher Snyder, with whom she celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Susan, wife of Christopher Holland of New Canaan and their daughters Brooke, Kendall and Billie; her daughter Catherine, wife of Kort Wickenheiser of Emmaus, PA and their sons Chase, Christopher and Jackson; her brother Peter and his wife Paula of Allentown, PA and her sister-in-law Joellen Krajsa, wife of her late brother, John. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Born in Allentown, the daughter of the late Anna and John Krajsa, Anne graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School and received her BA with honors from Muhlenberg College and her Master’s in Education from Lehigh University, where she met her husband Chris. Anne was an accomplished educator, focusing on both special needs and gifted students, teaching in public schools and at the Swain School. She carried that love for education into advisory and volunteer positions at her daughters’ schools. Anne and Chris lived in Virginia while Chris was stationed at the Pentagon and then New Jersey and California before they settled in New Canaan where they have been for nearly fifty years.
Anne made their warm and beautiful home in New Canaan the centerpiece for holidays, pool parties, and gatherings for her extended family. Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many of their pets could count on being loved and pampered by their Mom-mom / Aunt Anne. She loved her celebrations and her fireworks! She and Chris provided many travel memories for their children and grandchildren with trips to the islands, Western US, Jersey Shore and Europe.
Anne loved her New Canaan community and was an active PFA member for New Canaan High and Saxe Middle School and East Schools where both her daughters and granddaughters attended. She volunteered with the Philanthropic Educational Organization and the New Canaan Artisans and Garden Club, serving on their boards. Anne also remained a committed member of the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk as a Sustainer member.
She was known as a friend to all, going out her way to always make people feel welcomed and included. Anne was an active member of the County Club of Darien, among many other clubs and organizations.
Above all, Anne was the embodiment of warmth, kindness and generosity. She always looked for the bright light and the best in people. She was a continuous source of love, support, and positive reinforcement. All her family knew they could count on Anne/Missy/Mom-Mom/Aunt Anne whenever they needed a pick-me-up, a cheery conversation or sound advice delivered with unconditional love.
A gathering of Anne’s family and friends will take place on Friday December 1, 2023 from 5 - 8pm at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Anne’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday December 2, 2023 at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan.
