Obituary of Marion Graham Blose
Marion Graham Blose, age 99, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 16, 2023. She was a long-time 55-year resident of New Canaan. Born on May 1st, 1924, in Brooklyn, New York, Marion grew up in Stewart Manor, Long Island, in a town her father developed in Western Garden City.
Marion graduated from Sewanhaka High School, Floral Park, New York, and Cornell University where she met her husband, Howard Blose. She joined Kappa Alpha Theta, the University equestrian team, and was a nurse’s aid during World War II serving in Mineola Hospital’s (Long Island) burn ward.
Marion was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, a board member of Person-to-Person in the early stages, a member of the New Canaan Beatification League, a member of Staying Put, and a Waveny Care volunteer for over 35 years.
She loved sports, gardening, and especially tennis which she played until age 88.
Marion is survived by her children, Dr. Stephen Blose and wife Gladys, Roger Blose and wife Robin (who predeceased Marion), and Ann (Blose) Eydt (who predeceased Marion) and husband Robert Eydt. She also has four adult grandchildren, James Blose, Alicia (Blose) Lepping, Jeffrey Eydt, and Rebecca (Eydt) Russell.
