Obituary of Charles Bryk
Charles S. Bryk, 88, Long Time New Canaan Resident, Long Active in Town Affairs
Charles S. Bryk, a long time New Canaan resident passed away at the Birmingham Health Center on Sunday, August 17th, 2014 with Joan, his wife of 50 years, at his side. Mr. Bryk was born in Brooklyn, NY to Charles and Lily Bryk. Mr. Bryk earned his BS from Champlain College, his BA from Tufts University, and his MBA from New York University. He is also survived by a brother, Donald.
Charles and Joan relocated to the Naugatuck Valley in 2011 after 35 years in New Canaan. While in New Canaan, Mr. Bryk served on the Republican Town Committee for several years, and was a member of the Senior Men's Club, the Gridiron Club, and served as chairman of the Music Committee of the New Canaan Congregational Church for several years. He also served as president of the Fairfield Computer Users Group for 10 years. As a private pilot, Mr. Bryk and his wife enjoyed traveling the Eastern Seaboard in their Single Engine Piper Tri Pacer aircraft. Mr. Bryk retired as International Advertising Manager for Texasgulf, Inc., after stints at Marstellar, Union Carbide and Inco. He was also a board member of the Association of Canadian Advertisers.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 22nd, at the New Canaan Congregational Church at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the New Canaan Congregational Church Music Fund would be appreciated.
