Obituary of Kathy Ann Rudden
Kathy Ann Rudden (Hickey), 56, passed away on Thursday, September, 14th, 2023. Born on October, 7th, 1966 in Rockaway, New York, she was the youngest daughter to the late Tom and Marita (Meisel) Hickey. Kathy is survived by her children, Madeline, 29, Claire, 26, and Thomas, 22 and her sisters, Brianne Yontz, Chris Hickey, and Kelly Crawford. She was surrounded by love from her children, sisters, family, and friends. Kathy battled a rare cancer for 12 years and gave a Herculean fight to beat the odds.
Upon graduating from Boston College, Kathy set off to New York City to pursue a career in fashion. Traveling the globe, Kathy explored good food, great outfits, and better company. Her career transitioned from fashion to interior design - Kathy made everything more beautiful. Watching her three children grow was her biggest joy, followed by creating the perfect outfit. Kathy was a patient at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she participated in clinical trials to help others in their battle with rare cancers. Preferring to focus on couture rather than cancer, she remained a steadfast mother, friend, coworker, and fashion consultant to many.
She lived her life by two mottos; tell me more and life’s too short to not eat well.
