Obituary of Dennis Patrick McGuire
Dennis Patrick McGuire’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. Dennis passed away on September 12, 2023 at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Dennis spent his last few days telling stories, reminiscing, and listening to some of his favorite music together with his loved ones, who will all honor his legacy by living their life to the fullest.
Dennis graduated from St. John’s University earning an undergraduate degree in marketing. He then went on to receive his MBA in marketing and advertising from Baruch College CUNY in 1977. Dennis wrote his master's thesis on independent television and went on to have a very successful career, being awarded multiple times in his area of specialization of radio advertisement. He enjoyed a long and successful advertising career for over 40 years, with his retirement coming in November 2016.
Dennis loved spending his free time at his home away from home in Sarasota, Florida. He was dedicated to his daily swimming routine, and loved to read, and was captivated by all things "Titanic". Dennis had a great love and appreciation for the opera and enjoyed traveling. With his charismatic, witty sense of humor he had a natural ability never to leave a room without making a new friend. Dennis was considered a perfect gentleman by everyone who met him, and was greatly admired by many. Dennis was devoted to his Catholic faith, and cherished spending time with his family and close friends.
Dennis is predeceased by his mother, Mary and father, Harry McGuire. Loved and survived by cousins Lynn Cleary, Samantha Cleary Pepe, (Robert) Alexa, Ava, Noreen Goulding (Robert), Michael (Lorraine) Armstrong, Patrick (Anne) Armstrong, Patrick (Ann), Colleen, Timothy Cleary Jr.(Sophie) Isabelle, Millie.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 AM on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Saint Aloysius Church 23 Cherry St. New Canaan, CT. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 3 PM till 7 PM at Hoyt Funeral Home 199 Main St., New Canaan, CT. The burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Hawthorne, New York.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mr. Dennis Patrick McGuire can be made to Saint Jude Hospital or American Lung Association.
