I only met Mrs. Kelley once.
I was over at Nancy‘s house, probably when Nancy and I were in seventh or eighth grade, and I just remember that the kitchen was bustling with activity, noise and people, and that Mrs. Kelley was cheerfully orchestrating the goings on. I will always think of her as being very friendly and in full charge of her kitchen!
Q: What will you never forget about Phyllis?
A: I used to go thru the woods from Selleck Place and make mud pies with Nancy and play at Indian rock, then took over Jim’s paper route when we got older. Mrs. Kelley was always so kind to us kids. Golden sunshine of memories ❤️
In June of 1953 at Phyllis and Warren’s Wedding Reception, held at the old homestead on Mansfield Road in Darien, brought Dick Karl and Janet Wood together. Dick & Janet’s first date was with Warren and Phyllis. We went to the Woodway Beach Country Club in Stamford for dinner and dancing. We all spent a weekend at the Candlewood Cottage in August and many nights at the Shore and Country Club in Norwalk. In September 1953 Dick and Janet were engaged. I think that I am the only one left of the group of Kelley’s, Hubbard’s, Apy’s, White’s and Karl’s. I have so many good memories of those early years. The picture of Phyllis in her green sweater is beautiful.
