I knew Tom through a foundation (Delbasid Foundation which is “disabled” spelled backwards) that he helped establish with fellow Cornell Alumni after one of their Cornell Alumnus friends (Larry Lattomus) lost his limbs in 1967 as result of TN auto accident while driving down a mountain with his wife when the rear axle broke. It’s quite an inspiring story and you can read about it here:

I always enjoyed talking with Tom, although we never met in person. I remember kidding with him that he graduated college before I was born (just a few years before)! Over the years Tom and I would talk about a bunch of things other than Delbasid Foundation that was wound-down a few years ago after the death of Larry Lattomus. For example, we discovered that we both have children that were born on January 25! Tom has fraternal twin grandchildren and I have fraternal (B/G) children.
Tom, your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. May you rest in peace my friend and for Tom’s family, please accept my sincerest condolences.
