Obituary of Virginia Rico

Virginia A. Rico "Ginny", age 69, of Wilton, CT passed away on June 26, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her loving family and close friends. Ginny was born on June 12, 1944 in Queens, NY to the late Anthony V. and Norma A. Reffelt Rizzi. Mrs. Rico was the principal of the Cider Mill School in Wilton, a position she held since 2002. A 1965 graduate of St. John’s University, she later earned her master’s degree from Fairfield University. Ginny spent nearly all of her 35-year career as an educator at Cider Mill, serving as a teacher, technology instructional leader and assistant principal before being chosen to lead the school. Prior to her permanent arrival at Cider Mill, she held several long-term substitute positions in Wilton at Miller-Driscoll, Strong Comstock, Middlebrook and Cider Mill. Throughout her career, she was a trusted mentor and friend, helping to launch the careers of numerous education administrators still serving in schools throughout the area. Survivors of Ginny include her husband of 49 years, Frank; one son, Frank Rico lll, of New York City; a daughter Jennifer A. Rico and son-in-law Kenneth Gallop, of New York City; and one sister, Patricia A. Madigan-Yates, of Garden City, NY. Visitation will be held Friday, June 28, 2013 from 4pm-8pm at Hoyt Funeral Home, New Canaan, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12pm on June 29, 2013 at St. Mary’s Church in Ridgefield, CT.
