Obituary of Catherine Langdon Wooters
WOOTERS, Catherine McKenna Langdon (Kay) passed away peacefully on March 12, 2023 at her home in New Canaan, Connecticut. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on March 31, 1928 and raised in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, she was the daughter to the late Dr. and Mrs. Paul J McKenna.
Kay graduated from The College of New Rochelle and became a teacher. In April of 1953 she married J. Robert Langdon and moved to West Hartford where they happily raised their two daughters.
Later in life, Kay embarked on a career in event planning, a field that highlighted her skills in entertaining. After working at the Hartford Chamber of Commerce she joined the Bank of New England as a Vice President in charge of coordinating multiple events for the bank around the world. Upon her retirement, she returned to West Hartford where she served as a fundraiser for the Village of Families and Children’s Services.
In 1995 Kay married J. Dukes Wooters,Jr. and moved to New Canaan. Kay was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and The Country Club of New Canaan. She was an avid golfer, bridge player and reader. She also was a dear friend to many and a helping hand to all.
Kay is survived by two daughters, Catherine Russell of Darien and Margaret Havard her husband Robert of Maple Glen, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren Michael Russell (Robin) of San Francisco, California, Jeffery Russell of San Diego, California, Scott Russell (Charlotte) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Meredith Locke (Robert) of Milton, Massachusetts, Jennifer Loiacono (Ethan) of Brooklyn, New York, Brian Havard of Maple Glen, Pennsylvania, and Grace Harvard of New York, New York; four great grandchildren, Annie and Michael Russell of San Francisco and Langdon and Ford Russell of Raleigh, her brothers David J. McKenna of Vero Beach, Florida, John C. McKenna of Palm City, Florida and numerous treasured nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her brothers, Paul J. McKenna of Longmeadow and George McKenna of West Hartford, Connecticut, her son-in-law Craig Russell of Darien.
There will be a private celebration of Kay’s life at a private family ceremony in May.
