Mr. Fager, the gentleman ... was a quite terrific, uniquely gifted and caring listener .... in addition to being impactfully quiet, soft spoken, gentle in manner, caring and a magnificent person. The wisest of wise men listen. They listen well and intently ... before they speak. They learn ... as they listen. He never raised his voice. He never needed to. When he spoke, people listened. His words, though seemingly few, held weight ... great weight. They were impactful. He loved his Sporting Holy Trinity. His Irish ... Notre Dame Irish of course, his Mets and his Giants ... though, loved the pure enjoyment of sharing this passionate love ... with his son Matthew ... a great deal more. Incalculably more. Matt, I know and appreciate how very much you loved your dad, your father ... your very best friend. No father and son that I have ever known ... had a greater bond. An unbreakable ... everlasting bond. There has never been a happier man ... than the man who stood so very proudly and tall, by your side, as he always will ... as your Best Man ... on your wedding day.
My sincere condolence to you and your family.

Your friend, David.

To Don's family:
I got to know Don well when I worked at the Medical Society of the State of NY. Don was a model lawyer and advocate. Most importantly, he was a model human being, someone I have attempted to emulate as I continue through life. I am so blessed and honored to have known him.

Q: How did you meet Donald?
A: I worked for Mr. Fager from 1981 til retirement in 2017. A genuine caring person who took care of those who worked for his company. You couldn't find a better person to work for. He treated everyone with respect and his generosity was exemplary. God Bless Mr. Fager you will be missed and remembered.

It was always a pleasure whenever we had the opportunity to work with Don. He was smart, pragmatic, and could readily focus a large group on the important issue at hand. He was a good attorney, good businessman and even a better person. He always seemed very genuine and treated everyone well. He was such a decent person and the world is poorer without him in it.
Eternal rest grant unto thee, and may perpetual light shine upon you.

Q: How did you meet Donald?
A: When I first met Donald Fager in 1981, he insisted that I call him "Don." Whether you were getting coffee or waiting for an elevator, he was always gracious. After many decades of working together, he will always be "Mr. Fager" in my eyes. I dedicate this poem in his memory.
The man is a success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.

Mr. Fager was very kind to me when I started in the Insurance business. Even as he conducted day to day business at MLMIC he always took the time out to engage in conversation daily. Mr. Fager will be deeply missed.
