I was among Jane's classmates in her Junior-year Abroad program in Spain and have only just learned of her passing a year ago. While we have lost touch over the near half-century since that amazing experience, I can speak for the entire group in saying that we remember her as if it were just yesterday. At the end of our two-month stay in Santiago de Compostela, a tour guide bade us all farewell by saying, "hasta siempre," a wish to meet again at some undetermined point in the future.
To our dear, beautiful Jane, hasta siempre.

I just read about Jane's untimely passing in the SMC magazine; I had a very difficult experience at the college but Jane was such a lovely force (we were in advanced Latin American literature classes together) and made me feel welcome and seen. She was so beautiful and grounded and hilarious. Jane was one of the few good memories I had from that time in my life. What a terrible loss. Claire (Kelly) White

Jane brought light into any space she entered. Memories of her warm smile and delightful sense of humor will always be treasured. Though I didn't see her much as an adult, Marybeth kept me up to date with the stories of her life's happenings. She was the kid sister we enjoyed having around in our Winthrop Street days, and the loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend we will all remember dearly.

What an amazing spirit Jane was. I'll always cherish her visits to Holy Cross and the way she made every interaction more lively just by being present. She made a beautiful family which is such a testament to what a beautiful person she was.

My friend, Jane. What can I say?
I adored everything about her: She was beautiful inside and out, smart, adventurous, curious, kind, caring, nurturing, empathetic, grateful for her blessings, and always fun to be with. She cared deeply about everyone, especially those less fortunate.
My heart aches to say goodbye in this life to her and it aches for her family. Never, ever forget she cherished you with every ounce of her being. I hope you will heal and carry on with the strength and love she instilled in you during her life on this earth.
And to Jane, "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." I will remember you the rest of my life and as I do, I will smile.

To the Family of Jane Colihan,
On behalf of the Sisters and the Provincial Council of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, I want to express our deepest sympathy to Jim and family at the loss of Jane. Jane and Jim both have been wonderful friends of the School Sisters of Notre Dame and we cannot find words to express our gratitude to God for their friendship to our sisters. We promise you our prayers and support during this time of loss. Not only did Jane maintain a wonderful relationship with our sisters, she also gave so generously of herself as a volunteer at one of our sponsored ministries, Caroline House, in Bridgeport, CT. Jane's life was a shining example of her care for others and her desire to make the world a better place. We are grateful to have been part of her life.
