Obituary of Gino Buzzeo
Gino Buzzeo, 72, of New Canaan passed away suddenly on July 9, 2014. Gino was born on October 18, 1941 in Settefrati, Italy to the late Michele Buzzeo and Assunta Socci Buzzeo.
Gino came from Italy in 1958 where he began working with his mentor Roger Socci. He married his loving wife, Loretta in July of 1966; together they had 4 daughters, 3 son-in laws and 6 grandchildren. The family they created together became their whole world. In 1976, they started Silvermine Landscape Corporation and in 1983, they started Mine Hill Quarry in Roxbury, CT. Gino had a love for stone masonry. He leaves behind many beautiful sights that will be enjoyed forever. He was passionate about his family, work, wine-making and his volunteering. Gino was an active member of St. Aloysius Parish and the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered for the annual crèche every Christmas on the corner of South Avenue and Cherry Street.
Gino is survived by his wife of 47 years, Loretta Pompa Buzzeo, 3 daughters, Maria Buzzeo and Robert Gardella of Ridgewood, NJ, Diana and Ken Liptak of Trumbull, CT., and Gina and Rob Gorman of South Salem, NY. Six grandchildren, Olivia Buzzeo, Jonathan Liptak, Catherine Liptak, Faith Liptak, Felicity Gorman, and Bobby Gorman. In addition, Gino is survived by his mother Assunta, 4 brothers, Dominic of Lewiston, NY, Mario of Lockport, NY, Jesse of Brookfield, CT, and John of New Canaan, CT. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Antoinette Lanni and Maria Bianco, both of New Canaan, CT. Gino is also survived by 3 sister-in-laws Angela Socci of Trumbull, CT, Maria Buzzeo of Clinton, CT and Vincenza Pompa of Stamford, CT as well as many loved nieces and nephews. Gino is predeceased by his daughter, Catherine Ann. Gino was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Hoyt Funeral Home 199 Main St. New Canaan, CT 06840. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Aloysius Church of New Canaan. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
