Obituary of Richard Hall Anderson
Richard Hall Anderson, age 83, passed peacefully into eternal life on May 5, 2022. Richard was born on October 27, 1938 in Huntington, WV to the late Cleland and Mary Boltz Anderson.
Most of Richard's early life was spent in New York. Following graduation from Flushing High School in 1956, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity College, Hartford, CT and a Master of Business Administration degree from New York University.
In 1960, Richard enlisted in the U S Navy He served for three years as a Lieutenant JG aboard the destroyer escort, Daniel A. Joy. When his active duty ended, he continued for seven more years in the U S Naval Reserves.
Richard enjoyed a long career as a systems consultant. He was employed by such firms as West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co., American Can, James River, G. E. Capital, Border's Books and Nine West.
Among Richards many interests were gardening, music, travel, woodworking, camping and hiking ( in Olympic National Park, the Grand Canyon, and the Canadian Rockies ). He also devoted much time to collecting biographies of our US presidents.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary McIntyre Anderson as well as his twin sister, Margaret Surridge, his nephew, Timothy Surridge and wife Nancy, niece Judith Lux and husband David, niece Denise Eberhardt and husband Jay, and niece Gayle Ray, as well as eight adoring great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to celebrate Richard's life will be held at Kensico Cemetary in Valhalla, NY on May 27, 2022 at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations, in his memory, be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
