I was Matthew’s English teacher when he was in his first year at TP. His enthusiasm, positive energy and warm personality brought joy to our small classroom. I will never forget teaching him to knit in our club for winter term. He was so dedicated to making these hats for preemies and never gave up even when the holes sometimes were bigger than the hats.Eventually I encouraged him to bring his knitting to class and we worked on it there. He was a leader, a role model and just a really kind and special young man. I also have to share that there wes many a time when I had to ask him to please stop talking about his cats and focus on the task at hand. I am so so saddened by his passing and I’m sending love to all His beautiful family and friends. Susan Daniels.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dooley,
I am so terribly sorry for your loss. When I heard the news today I couldn’t help but smile at my memories of Matthew as a third grader in my class. I think of him often because he left such an imprint on my heart. He is always with me when I teach teachers the importance of getting to know their students and how they learn. I will forever hold Matthew in my heart. Some students do that. Sending you lots of love and strength during this difficult time. Love, Mrs. Story (Matthew’s 3rd grade teacher)

It was my pleasure and honor to have known Matthew since he was 8 years old. Matthew played youth football for me and other coaches who absolutely loved coaching Matthew. Matthew never complained, always gave 110%, always supported and encouraged his fellow teammates and would be the kid who helped an opposing player up off the ground. We had a team rule, no loud fluorescent colored socks or cleats, Matthew showed up to practice one day wearing the brightest yellow cleats you could find. I said "Matthew, what's with the cleats?" Matthew replied, "Well coach, I want my parents to be able to easily find me on the field. But I'll take them back if you want me to." Needless to say Matthew had a brand new pair of bright yellow cleats every year. Matthew will never be forgotten, always had a smile on his face and a kind soul. Matthew wore #56 every year in football, we were able to locate his old jersey for him and gave to him last year. If you knew Matthew and you're watching a football game and you happened to see the #56 being worn, do me a favor and think of Matthew, a Warrior forever. God bless you Matthew. -Coach Anderson
