I will treasure my time spent with Vivian, always too short. The trips they took out to WA to visit with Mark allowed us to share special memories on the Olympic Coast, in the Cascade mountains and in our home. Especially dear to me are the moments she spent helping me decorate the Christmas tree, make pear jam from home grown pears, and playing intense games of Scrabble. I'm so grateful for her unconditional love and support, and the way she welcomed me into the family. With much love and gratitude, I will carry her in my heart always. Rest in Peace, dear Vivian. ~ Valerie Normand

When Vivian and Dave moved from Wisconsin to Connecticut, she gave me her cheese grater. I use it often and when I do, I always think of Vivian. She was a lovely person; we enjoyed talking with her about so many things: poetry, books, politics, religion, homemaking, almost anything. She was well-versed in so many things. What a bright light she was to my husband and me. She will always be in my memory.

For nearly 6 years, I learned from Vivian from our working together inthe office at Delafield Presbyterian Church in Delafield, Wisconsin. Always the teacher, Vivian's knowledge trained and guided my mind and imagination, and encouraged me to grow and be the best I could be. I hated that red pen she used, but loved her smile and deep giggle she used when "i finally got it!" I loved her and will always keep her in my ❤. Prayers for peace for all the family.

Greetings from Delafield Presbyterian Church in Delafield, Wisconsin! Vivian and Dave belonged to our congregation before they moved to CT. Dave and Vivian were such wonderful people. They always were involved in leadership roles, committees, preaching, singing, and just were there with kind words and thoughts. We sure missed them when they moved but we knew how important family was to them so we were happy for them. They absolutely adored their grandchildren!... I think Vivian was one of the the smartest woman I’ve met. She was a gem knowing EVERYthing about Presbyterian policy..
Sympathies to her family!
With great and loving memories!!!!

Words that come to mind when I think of Vivian are: Kind. Patient. Accepting. Regal. Friendly. Interested. Grounded. Caring. Steady. Reliable. Spiritual. Compassionate. Responsible. Principled. Competent, and how! She had an uncanny ability of holding high standards that made me want to live up to them, while at the same time knowing she wouldn't hold it against me if I didn't meet those expectations. She possessed an admirable blend of perfectionism and acceptance of herself and others.

Vivian was a lighthouse of calm, gentle reason and compassion. She's a hero in my memories of the School at Kirkridge, teaching me much, I suppose, about literature, but much more about how to be a good human being in service to others.
