Obituary of William Anthony
William L. Anthony Jr. (Bill), age 43, of New Canaan passed away on Thursday June 5, 2014 at Norwalk Hospital after a brief illness. Bill was born in Greenwich on March 26, 1971 and was the beloved son of Dana Anthony and the late William L. Anthony Sr. Bill graduated from New Canaan High School in 1989 and since then had remained a fixture within the NCHS Athletics.
At the time of his death, he was employed by TJ Maxx where he received several awards for his accomplishments.
Bill was employed by Bob’s Sports of New Canaan during his high school years and continued his employment there for many years following his graduation. He had also been employed by Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan.
During his High School years he was an equipment manager for the New Canaan Rams football and boys hockey teams. He was the recipient of the 1989 Lions Club School Service Award as well as the 1989 Parent Faculty Association Award. After graduation he continued to be an avid supporter of NC athletics and was often referred to as the “#1 Rams Fan”. He could always be found at a New Canaan sporting event.
Bill had many friends both on and off the athletic field. He was well known in the town of NC and will be sorely missed. He added so much to so many lives, and his family would like to thank everyone who added so much to his life.
Bill was a member of the Sycamore Knights Street Rod & Hot Rod Club. In addition to all high school athletics, his interests included NASCAR, exotic cars and attending classic car shows throughout the northeast. He attended all Caffeine and Carburetors shows in New Canaan. He was an automobile enthusiast. He was a collector of art and was extremely well versed on the subject of the Titanic.
Bill enjoyed all music, and would always have a current copy of the Robb Report and the Dupont Registry.
Bill is survived by his loving and devoted mother Dana Anthony of Trumbull, sister Barbara Wells of Shelton, brother-in-law Michael Wells, nephew Evan Wells, nieces Madelyn and Olivia Wells. He is survived by his aunt Elizabeth Anthony Woodfine formerly of Greenwich and Stamford, and his cousins Kim Crawford and Debra Woodfine of Trumbull and Ken Woodfine of Fairfield. Additionally he is survived by aunt Dianne Reich, cousin Sarah Reich, aunt and uncle Dean and Lynne Dallmann and cousins Faith Towner and Todd Dallmann.
He was predeceased by his father William l. Anthony Sr., paternal grandparents Attorney Lloyd W. Anthony and Elizabeth Anthony of Greenwich, and maternal grandparents William and Barbara Dallmann of Massachusetts.
A brief graveside service will be held on Saturday June 14, 2014 at 10:00 am at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan. A celebration of life will follow beginning at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 178 Oenoke Ridge Road, New Canaan 06840.
