I was blessed to be the Director of the E.C. Scranton Library under John's leadership. When he first became President, he began taking me out to lunch in order to learn everything he needed to know about the library and the library field in general. I always looked forward to these lunches which were rich in good food, conversation and incredible support for my work and the goals of the Library. This gesture meant so much particularly as I had just started in my position at the Library. Installing the first drive-up book drop, and presenting and bringing plans for the new library building all the way from an idea to a reality are some of my best memories of my time at Scranton and John was by my side throughout the entire process. I couldn't imagine working for a more dedicated and compassionate leader who was not only my boss but in the end a true friend. I will miss him and remember him dearly. My deepest condolences to you, Loretta, and all of the James family. May your many memories bring you some peace at this sad time.
