Bootsie, as a friend of Ann's from Ridgefield, I remember you as a young kid but over the last 50+ years of our friendship Ann has kept me updated on you and your life with Jim. I just wanted to reach out and let you know that you're being thought of and prayed for by folks you don't even know. My heart goes out to you.

It is with such sadness that I post this note. It was too many years since I have had the opportunity to spend time with Jim or Bootsie, but after so many years in our summer houses together, Jim will always be remembered as such a fun and funny guy. My most heartfelt condolences to Bootsie.

Even though we met Jim latter in life, we were fortunate to know him as the true gentleman that he was. He will be missed.

Jim and I were schoolmates in grammar school and in high school. It is with a heavy heart that I bid him farewell. Jim was so talented and likeable, accentuated by his kindness. In high school, he was a prominent member of the debate team and I believe a career in the law profession was in the cards for him. Prior to the pandemic, I was fortunate to have been able to attend a few luncheons with Jim and a few other Tolentine friends. I was over joyed to have that time with him and renew our memories. My condolences go out to all of Jim's family. He will be sorely missed.

So many wonderful memories of Jim, and of course, Bootsie. One that instantly came to mind was sitting at the dining room table after a fabulous dinner party and Jim's remarks about my teaching profession being "noble." The comment was in the context of people getting paid for their contributions they make to the world and society and how sometimes some should get paid more for their contributions. It stuck with me and how Jim valued and succeeded himself from education. He made my commitment to my career feel worthwhile.
Of course, as many have said, his humor and wit were equal to his intelligence! And lastly, as part of our "summerhouse" world he and Boots were renowned as "two hearts that beat as one." Bootsie's strength and love are a testament to that phrase. I know too that grief is not something you get over, it's something you go through....love, Jean & Pete
